Fleet and Forwood back to back Grand Masters
Anthony Fleet (ACT) and Carol Forwood (VIC) successfully defended their Australian Grand Masters singles crowns on Sunday 4 July 2010 at the Canberra Labor Club.
Forwood won a tightly contested grand-final against Louise Ball (WA) 4 sets to 2. A number of legs and sets could have gone either way with the crowd kept guessing until the last peg. In the final Forwood averaged 19.45 and Ball averaged 19.57. To reach the final Forwood defeated Natalie Carter (WA) in a closely fought semi 3 sets to 2, Forwood averaged 21.58 and Carter 20.28. In the other semi Ball defeated Robyn McCloy (WA) 3 zip, Ball averaged 19.91 and McCloy 17.78. The top four averages for the Ladies Singles were; Forwood 20.91, Corrine Hammond (NSW) 20.67, Carter 20.58 and Ball 20.01.

In the Open singles Fleet proved too strong for Neil Hembrow winning 5 sets to 0, Fleet averaged 27.27 and Hembrow 26.02. Fleet reached the final by defeating Craig Prizeman (NSW) 4 zip, Fleet averaged 30.46 and Prizeman 27.65. Fleet's ability to hit the double straight away proved the difference with Prizeman pushing him all the way. Hembrow won his semi, against Kyle Anderson (WA), 4 sets to 3. In a really close tussle Hembrow's ability to hit the big scores (six 180s in the match) proved the difference. Hembrow averaged 28.32 and Anderson averaged 26.93. The top four averages for the open singles were: Fleet 29.26, Beau Anderson (WA) 27.57, Kyle Anderson 27.30 and Hembrow 27.17.

The high peg in the open singles was taken out by Hembrow with a 154 and Ball took the ladies high peg with 112. Over the weekend there were one hundred and nine 180's recorded.
