Day one of the Easter Open saw a large and eager gathering of players at the user-friendly White Eagle House venue.
Once again the purpose built and professional dart cubicles looked fantastic and provided the perfect backdrop for an exciting
weekend of competition. The BDO Qualifier fielded 36 men and 16 Ladies.
Some of the Asia Pacific’s best players took to the oche to secure a berth in the main Ranked Event scheduled for Sunday.
The BDO qualifiers who join the Top 16 seeds on Sunday are;
Clinton BRIDGE, Jamie BROWN, Michael CASSAR, Travis CHISHOLM, Stuart COBURN, Tyler FITCH, Dean GIBBS,
Shane KEIRL, Neil McCREADIE, (Junior), Luke McGREGOR, Matt McGREGOR, Adam MOODIE, Jason MURDOCH, Marcus PAICE, Lincoln PORTER, Barry SMITH, Tony VERSACE, Jack YOUNG.
Some of our top young players, Stuart Coburn, Luke McGregor and Michael Cassar were counted amongst those to qualify in the Men’s Division for Victoria and Sarah Brown and Renee Plucinski were included amongst the Ladies. The experience of throwing alongside some of Australia’s big guns provided some invaluable match practice at a top-level competition.
Second event on day one was the Mixed Doubles where 40 pairs faced off in the Round Robin format after lunch.
The strong competition found the combinations of Rob Modra and Louise Ball toe to toe in the final with Mitchell Clegg and Corinne Hammond. Rob and Louise came away winners after a hard fought battle.
The ensuing Men’s and Ladies Doubles saw day turn into evening and evening into night time, before the eventual winners for the Ladies, Carol Forwood and Corinne Hammond emerged triumphant though bleary-eyed against Dot McLeod and Louise Ball.
The Men’s final ended shortly after midnight with success falling to Jason Murdoch and Henry Bajowski [below left] over Runner-Ups and Mitchell Clegg and Eddy Sims [below right].

Day two of the Easter Open found most players and officials appreciative of the extra hour in bed courtesy of Daylight Saving’s
end. Easter Sunday started on a high note with an award made by DFA/VDC Pres. Kelvin James to the WDF’s highest ranked Asia Pacific Lady Player Carol Forwood. [right]
The BDO qualifiers returned and played through to the final 16 before the DFA ranked event commenced with 45 men and 16 Ladies playing through to the event’s conclusion.
