The Darts Federation of Australia (DFA) has developed the Australian Grand Prix to create a circuit of seven individual tournaments into one Grand Prix circuit giving our members access to BDO points all around Australia. The Federation believes that the development of the Australian Grand Prix circuit will be attractive to players and will assist in the attraction of major sponsors as the success and publicity of the circuit grows especially within the media.

Following recent announcements by the Directors of the British Darts Organisation (BDO), the DFA Australian Grand Prix has been approved to carry BDO Invitational Points on seven DFA events that will carry in excess of $100,000 in prize money and rewards available to DFA and WDF Players.

There will be an Australian Grand Prix Ranking Table which will be released after the completion of the second event (Central Coast Australian Classic). Rewards are being instigated for the players topping the table. A few rules in regards to these rewards will be released shortly.

The DFA sees the Australian Grand Prix playing a very important part in Australia's darting future and sees these events becoming bigger and better over the next few developing years.

The DFA has announced that due to the continuous movement of the Winmau World Masters dates which is affected by television coverage of the BBC that the DFA Grand Prix will conclude each year at the Pacific Masters.
This gives all players an equal chance to compete in all of the Grand Prix events without the conclusion being affected by the window of date changes which are required to fulfil the broadcaster's schedule.

The DFA Grand Prix will commence for the 2010-year with the Australian Masters Weekend in Geelong in October and conclude in Gosford in 2010 at the Pacific Masters.
"Our player will therefore have stability and consistency and can plan their travel arrangements well in advance to attend the Grand Prix Events thus minimising travel costs".
