The Puma Australian Junior Darts Championships are moving to northern Tasmania in 2012 to be played at the St Ailbe’s Hall in Launceston Tasmania. Darts Tasmania hosts the 31st Championship and will be played in January 2012 from the 12th - 18th. Launceston is Tasmania’s second largest city and has redefined itself as a cultural hub with vibrant cafes, museums and open parkland. Launceston is just over two hours’ drive (198 kilometres) north of Hobart. A great location for these Championships. We hope to see plenty of you there.

Congratulations to all of the Players and Officials on your selection in your State/Territory team to partake in these championships. Some of you will have been here before and for some it will be their first time. To the player's competing in their first Championship, good luck and good darting for this Championship, and future Championships if they eventuate for you. To those participating in their last Championships because of age, we all thank you for your past efforts representing your State and hope you all go on from juniors and become the future elite players of our sport and see you all competing in the 25’s and under Championships.

A number of players are returning to defend titles they won last year at the Italian and Australian Sporting Club in Morwell Victoria. 2010 Australian Boy’s Youth Singles winner and Youth Masters Champion last year Phillip Stuart from South Australia is back. Jordan Clarke, Dylan Dunster and Tyson Hoefel from Western Australia are back chasing perhaps another Doubles title, while Queensland will be aiming at retaining the Champion State title they won back last year. Its great to see 2011 “Rookie of the Year” Players return in Jordan Clarke from Western Australia and Victoria’s Harley Kemp along with Daveisha Ikitautama from Victoria and Kody Dodds Watson from the Northern Territory whom won the “Encouragement Awards” at last years Championships. Australia’s two representative at the 2011 World Cup in Ireland return. Tasmania’s Nathan Seabourne playing in his fifth Championships and Jade Whitworth her second. All will be seeking to match or improve on their performances at the 2011 Championships.

Western Australia and Queensland split the Boy’s and Girl’s Teams event at the last Championship and will need to be at their best to retain those titles again. In 2012 there are new battle lines being drawn up making the 31st Australian Junior Darts Championships one of the most evenly contested events ever.

May we at the Darts Australia Website take this opportunity to wish every player the very best of luck and skill. Above all, let sportsmanship prevail and the wonderful sport of ours will grow. Enjoy.
