The 31st Australian Junior Darts Champions at the St Ailbes Hall in Launceston concluded today with the Australian Youth Masters. The results from the Masters saw a new Champion in both the Boy’s and Girl’s Masters. The Australian Youth Masters commenced in 1992 and pits the best boy’s player and girl’s player from each state against each other in a round robin competition.

She may be participating at her first Australian Darts Championships, but she’s quite a talent and has a great future in the sport of darts. In the Australian Girl’s Youth Masters, Tasmania’s Shannon Perry out played the best youth girl’s talent in the country to become the first player from Tasmania to win this event in its 20 year history. In the round robin event the 15 year old out classed all opposition to defeat them all winning the maximum 15 legs of darts and losing just two legs for the whole event.
Perry from Yolla in Tasmania’s northwest made it appear pretty easy finishing with an overall average of 18.144. Her effort topped off a great week which saw he win the Australian Youth Doubles and top the averages for the Australian Teams Championship.
Jordan Clarke, the 16 year old from Perth completed her second Australian Junior Darts Championship with a second place in the Australian Youth Masters.

Kemp ends great week on top
Harley Kemp (right) from Victoria won his first Australian Youth Masters at his second attempt. This young talented player (17 years) has taken every opportunity at his second only Australian Junior Championships he has play in. Last year he was named “Rookie of the Year” at the Australian Darts Championships held in Victoria. This year he has come back a far better player featuring prominently in every event he has competed in.
Kemp went through the event unscathed, winning all of his matches. Several players pushed him in very tight contest like last year’s winner Phillip Stuart and Joshua Townsend from New South Wales whom lost 3 – 2 to Kemp.
Tyson Hoefel from Rockingham in Western Australia finished off his second Australian Darts Championships with a second place with 4 wins. The 17 year old lost one match to Queensland’s Jamie Rundle and one match to Kemp and finished off with an overall average of 23.848. Northern Territories Jackson Wilson-Young finished in third place with an average of 24.813 also with 4 wins.
