OFFICE OF WDF PRESIDENT

Felix DegenWe are delighted to advise that Mr Felix Degen (Switzerland) was elected as President of the World Darts Federation on Monday 25th October 2004 in the 14th WDF Conference held in Bridlington, England.

He succeeds Mr Matt Lindsay (New Zealand) who retired at the 14th General Meeting held in Epinal France in October 2003  – the announcement of his retirement due to ill health did not leave sufficient time to allow for proper nominations for the election of his successor – thus the Election of the position of WDF President was deferred until the recent Conference held in Bridlington. Felix, aged 55 years, became President of the Swiss Darts Association in 1981 and has been responsible for the development of the Sport of Darts in Switzerland  - he is well known and respected in the European darts scene – we were all grateful for his fine endeavours in hosting the WDF World Cup in Basle in 1995.

He has already made an enthusiastic contribution to the Executive’s intentions to seek formal recognition of the Sport of Darts in other major International Sports bodies such as the IOC and GSAIF – we look forward to working closely with him during this next period of Office.

NEW MEMBERS

The Conference heard applications for membership of the World Darts Federation from ESTONIA and INDIA which were duly approved.

Also the ‘pro-tem’ membership status of BELIZE and PUERTO RICO was ratified by the Conference and they become Full Members of the World Darts Federation.

The revised membership total is now ‘61’ Full Members as of 25th October 2005.

ADOPTION OF FRESH INITIATIVES

During the 14th WDF Conference held in Bridlington on Monday 25 th October 2004 several ‘fresh’ initiatives were adopted for implementation during the next period of Office.
