A Tribute to John McCormick

It was with great sadness that the Darts Federation of Australia Inc learned of the sudden passing of John McCormick, Managing Director of Puma Dart Products in NewZealand on 21st of October from a heart attack.John McCormick

On behalf of everyone at the DFA I extend our sincere condolences to his wife Pat and family at this tragic time.
He had just returned to his home in Katikati, New Zealand a week ago from France where his company were sponsors of the World Cup in Epinal under his Europe brand of Bulls.
John along with his Company was a friend and a major sponsor of Darts here in Australia. A sincere mate and supporter who will long be remembered for his camaraderie and generosity to our great sport, not only as sponsor of our national body, but many individual players as well. His genuine bigheartedness and assistance to many will be missed.
Puma Dart Products through John has been a sponsor of the DFA for the past five years and we had just renewed the contract for a further five years plus sponsorship for the 2005 World Cup’s in Western Australia.
John and Puma Dart Products has been long time supporter of the sport of darts in New Zealand and Australia. He was sponsor of World Cup lll in 1981 in Nelson New Zealand. In recent years has sponsored numerous major darts events including the last three World Cups, put up prize money for a 9-darter at major events and has also sponsored Pacific Cups, Asia Cups and the inaugural Americas Cup last year.
His personal contribution to our sport earned him tremendous respect as a businessman and his encouragement for darts in so many countries was well known and very much appreciated. John was always eager to chat about Darts and its potential, and was always willing to take note to new ideas.
Dart Players and Officials from around the world will miss John McCormick, fortunately John’s son Peter will carry on the Business, so the name of John McCormick will last in peoples minds for a considerable time.
The Sport of Darts is better, thanks to ambassadors like John McCormick.

To Pat and her family, along with everyone at Puma Darts, please accept our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy from the darting fraternity in Australia.
