2008 Australian Grand Masters

Tony David2002 World Professional Champion Tony David (right) was in top form over the weekend at the 2009 Australian Grand Masters taking out the title from Queensland's Robert Modra. In a top field David defeated Modra 5 sets to 3 sets. He defeated fellow Australian representative Kyle Anderson in the semi final 4 - 1 and Kyle's brother Beau in the quarterfinals. Modra defeated another popular Australian representative in Steve Duke 4 - 3 in a thrilling semi final and Simon Whitlock after Whitlock missed six darts at the winning double in the quarterfinals.

During the final, Rob Modra scored 1 x 180 and Tony David scored 2 x 180s, David also had the highest pegout with 160 to finish the second leg in the second set. David averaged in the final 27.552 and Modra finished with an average of 27.586

It has been a few years for David to win the Australian Grand Masters again, the last time being in 2002.

Corrine HammondLadies Australian Grand Masters
2007 Australian Singles Champion Corrine Hammond (right) from Sydney played brilliant darts to win the Australian Ladies Grand Masters title without dropping a set. She defeated Victorian Janine Cassar 4 - 0 in the final. Hammond had victories over Carol Forwood 3 - 0 in the semi final and Robyn McCloy in the quarterfinals. Cassar had a great tussle with Julie Thomas in the semi finals winning 3 - 2 and defeated Fran Shore in the quarterfinals.

Doubles
In Doubles competitions, Simon Whitlock and Rob Modra teamed together to win the title from Tony David and Steve Duke. In the ladies, Corrine Hammond and Peta Whitlock were too strong for the pairing of Natalie Carter & Carol Forwood and Meta Reid & Mihi Reid.

B Grade Singles
The grand final was played out between 17 years of age junior Michael Cassar from Victoria and 16 years of age junior Stuart Coburn also from Victoria, Stuart fought to the very end but Michael was the victor. So 1st place Michael Cassar, 2nd place Stuart Coburn. Furtherest local B grade single player was Paul (Megs) Hansen, he made it to semi finals
