Dutch Open - Embassy Pair into Semi Finals

Thursday 6th February - Darts Dutch Open Pairs
Raymond Van Barneveld and Tony David have played their way through the strong 1156 Men's Pairs field to make the semi-finals at the Dutch Open
The Netherlands Darts Federation is holding the 25th Dutch Open, which for the second year in a row is being held at the Hotel de Koninghof in Veldhoven, not far from Eindhoven.
It is being played from the 6th - 9th of February.

It holds all the ranking points - World Darts Federation Ranked, British Darts Organisation Points, European Grand Prix Ranked, & World Trophy Invitation Points

The tournament is played over four days, starting on Thursday with only the last eight singles and four pairs from the Open and Ladies events to be played on stage on the Sunday.

Three times Embassy winner Raymond van Barneveld and 2002 Embassy Champion Tony David reached the semi-final when they defeated the Dutch combination of Raymond Hoek and Andre Ruiter 3 - 0 in the quarter finals.

The pair's event has been played down to the last four combinations. In the men's event two all British pairs are still in and the other remaining pairs are English/Scottish.

The two English pairs will not meet each other before the final.
Raymond van
Barneveld and Tony David will try to prevent that.

They take on Tony Martin and the 2002 Winmau Champion Mark Dudbridge (England) in their semi final while Andy Smith and Terry Jenkins (England) take on Shaun Greatbatch

Shaun Greatbatch
and Bob Taylor (England/Scotland) in the other semi final. Shaun Greatbatch hit a nine darter in the Dutch Open last year and will be starting his Singles title defense tomorrow.

In the quarterfinals all four remaining all-Dutch pairs were eliminated. Co Stompé and Frans Harmsen missed four darts for 2-2 against Andy Smith and Terry Jenkins.

Defending Champions are there again
A large field of nearly 200 pairs is contesting the Ladies Pairs at this year Dutch Open. Making it through to the semi finals are last years Champions in Francis Hoenselaar (Netherlands) & Trina Gulliver (England) (pictured right) who defeated Suzanna Stanisak & Daniela Zdarskyir 3-0 in the quarterfinals. They play the Dutch pairing of Miranda Haasnoot & Daniëlle Hartog in their semifinal match. Vicky Pruim (Belgium) is back chasing the title again this year after loosing last years final with then partner Meike de Boer. This year she partners Swedish player Kristiina Korpi and they made it through to the semi finals with a win over the English combination of Sally Smith & Claire Bywaters.

On Friday the singles event will start. Over 3250 men and almost 600 will play the next two days to qualify for the quarterfinals respectively Semi-finals on Sunday.

Francis Hoenselaar is the Ladies defending Champion, and Shaun Greatbatch will be trying to back up last year's title.
