Men’s Teams
After the completion of the Men’s Teams Event Round Robin, Australia is to play Gibraltar next. This match will be played on day two of the World Cup, and if they are successful in that match they play either England or Denmark in the last eight.

Women’s Pairs
At the completion of the round robin, the Australian Ladies were playing great darts. This moved them into the final sixteen, where they again played well to defeat Wales 4 – 1. They played Finland next for a place in the semi finals (medals area) but in a tough hard fought match, James and Carter lost 4 – 3. A top effort by the Aussie Girl’s here, which should inspire them in the Singles starting on Friday.

The final of the Women’s Pairs will be played on Saturday between the Netherlands and England.

Men’s Singles
In Group A playing for Australia is Tony David who play the winner of the match between Austria’s Alex Fladerer and Gibralta’s Francis Taylor. That was to be Alex Fladerer whom David easily defeated 4 - 0. He now plays Vincent Van Der Voot from the Netherlands in the round of 64. Van Der Voot is a seasoned player and David will need to be on his game to get past him.

Making his international debut in Group B for Australia is Justin Thompson and he was up against Stephane Didiot of France. A great start for Thompson, winning 4 – 0. His next opponent will be tough. He plays England’s Andy Fordham, a top professional dart player.

Group C saw Steve Duke continue his good form when he played Luxemburg’s Paola Flora for a strong 4 – 0 win. He now faces Switzerland’s Walter Tschudin in the round of 64, a game that Duke will hopefully win.

To Group D and the hardest game for our guys first up. Unfortunately for Anthony Fleet, he was up against a seasoned professional player in England’s Tony O’Shea. O’Shea, nicknamed the “Silverback” was too strong for Fleet here winning 4 – 1.

Youth Mixed Pairs
Topping off competition on Day One was the Youth Mixed Pairs. Australian representatives Kathleen Logue and Kyle Anderson were in Group B of the round robin event. In their group are Denmark and the Netherlands. First up against Denmark Logue and Anderson play against Malka Dollerup and Kenneth Simonsen and won this match comfortably 3 – 0.

Next they were to play the tough Netherlands pair of Jerry Hendricks and Kelly Raaphorst. These two are experienced youth players on the international scene in Europe with both having won titles at Open tournament and Europe Youth Cup. Our pair lost this match in a very close contest 3 – 2. However with their earlier win, this was enough to move them through to the last eight.
