History
made at Junior Darts Singles Championships
|
 |
Day four
of the 22nd Puma Australian Darts Championships at the Inala Darts
Club in Brisbane ended with history being created when Queensland
representative Josh Kime (pictured left) won the Singles Crown.
This is the first time a father and son have been Australian Darts
Champions in the same year. Father Jeff Kime (right) won the singles
at the Australian Senior Darts Championships in Gosford in July
2002 and his son Josh has won the Australian Junior Darts Singles
in 2002/3. |

Josh defeated fellow teammate and Boy's Doubles
partner Chris Wood in the final. Josh averaged 18.859 per dart
in his 3-1 victory over Chris (18.135).
It was a closely contested final, which the crowd really enjoyed.
Both players were scoring brilliantly keeping the match really
close.
A brilliant career lies ahead for these two players will Josh
and Chris both being only 16 years of age, they have another year
of junior darts still in front of them.
Both their averages were down in the final from their semifinal
matches, but an Australian title was on the line. J
osh (22.272) defeated Dwayne Seaborne (TAS) (21.698) while Chris
(18.57) accounted for Kyle Anderson (WA) who finished with a 20.126
average.

Lauren West,
(left) representing Western Australia for the 4th time became the
new Australian Junior Girl's Singles Darts Champion, making it back-to-back
titles for her.
She won the title in Adelaide for the first at the last junior championships.
This year she defeated Kathleen Logue from the Northern Territory
in the final who came close to winning this title in Adelaide when
she placed third being defeated then by Lauren as well. Lauren averaged
17.714 per dart in the final with Kathleen averaging 16.621. |
Both girls had impressive
wins in their semi finals to make the final.
Aged 17 years, Lauren's average in that semi final of 18.691 against
Simone Zeromski (VIC) showed she was in great form, and she continued
that form to win her second Australian Singles title. It won't be
long before this young talented player makes it into the Western
Australian Senior Ladies State Team.
Similar story for Kathleen who would be pushing for senior selection.
Kathleen (right)who received the Girl's Encouragement award in Adelaide
defeated her fellow teammate and Girl's Doubles partner Melissa
Mundy in the other semi final. |
