New Aussie Darts Mixed Pairs Champions

Players were competing for the Australian Junior Mixed Doubles Championship at today's action in the 22nd Puma Australian Junior Darts Championships at the Inala Darts Club in Brisbane, resulting in new Australian Mixed Pairs Champions.

The players were placed into four pools with a combination from each state in each pool. They played a round robin of matches with the top to placings from each pool moving into the quarter finals.

After pool round robins those to make it through to the quarter finals were:

Damon Heta (20.636) & Danielle Kenny (24.583) (WA) defeating David Clegg (15.33) & Cindy Parrott (16.44) (NSW)

Allan Spence (17.84) & Kathleen Logue (17.75) (NT) defeating Josh Kime (21.46) & Lauren Peters (15.81) (QLD)

Kyle Anderson (26.418) & Lauren West (18.527) (WA) defeating Chris Wood (24.976) & Felicity Allen (18.257) (Qld)

Shannon O'Brien (23.178) & Belinda Vellanff (14.883) (NSW) defeated Shannon Patterson (19.784) & Kylie Langmair (18.35) (SA)

The Semi Finals say some great darts, not reflected by the averages.
The first semi final saw some nervous players but W.A.'s
Damon Heta (16.712) & Danielle Kenny (12.56) make the grand final with victory over Allan Spence (12.56) & Kathleen Logue (13.75) (NT).

The second semi final saw the defending Champions (pictured right) from Western Australian Kyle Anderson (23.962) and Lauren West (13.385) defeated by the New South Wales combination of Shannon O'Brien (21.66) & Belinda Vellanff (15.138)

This was a great game, a pity one pairing had to lose.

The final was played in front of a large crowd. There was some good support for both pairs, which made for an exciting match.
The WA pair of Damon Heta (23.608) & Danielle Kenny (17.07) really lifted their game from their semi final performance to defeat the NSW combination of Shannon O'Brien (20.311) & Belinda Vellanff (13.66). Shannon and Belinda could not lift their performance in the final. Perhaps they threw all of their good darts when defeating the defending champions. 15-year-old Damon Heta (a product of the schools program in WA) has won an individual Australian Junior title in his 'rookie' year at an Australian Junior Championships. This is Danielle first title as well for the sixteen year old. This is her 3rd year in the WA Junior Girl's State Team.
Winners: Damon Heta & Danielle Kenny (WA)
Finalist: Shannon O'Brien & Belinda Vellanff (NSW)
Equal 3rd Allan Spence & Kathleen Logue (NT)
Kyle Anderson & Lauren West (WA)
Equal 5th Shannon Patterson & Kylie Langmair (SA)
Chris Wood & Felicity Allen (QLD)
David Clegg & Cindy Parrott (NSW)
Josh Kime & Lauren Peters (QLD)

Crowds have been excellent. Competition continues tomorrow with the Girl and Boy's Australian Youth Masters.
Play starts at 10.30am tomorrow.
