The round robin competition was split into two pools, which saw very close competition in the boy’s event. In Pool ‘A’ saw a very close competition with the Queensland pairing and 2001 & 2002 Doubles Finalists Josh Kime and Chris Wood (right) defeating 2-0 the WA pairing of Kyle Anderson and Damon Heta. However, the Queensland pair lost two games, one to South Australia’s Shannon Patterson & Bradley Coulson 2–0 and Victoria’s Chris Gritty & Scott Cooke 2-1. The Western Australian pair won all of their remain games and both combinations made it into the finals with the Western Australians topping the pool with 5 wins 10 legs.

In Pool ‘B’, again competition was very tight, with all combinations losing at least one round. The pairings to move into the semi finals were Western Australia’s Trenton Phillips & Justin Miles who topped the pool with 5 wins 11 legs, just one leg in front of the Queensland Pair of Matt Mullen & Shaun Bracken with 5-10.

The two pairings from Pool “A” moved into the final for another crack at each other. Anderson and Heta were more consistent and accounted for the Queensland pair of Matt Mullen & Shaun Bracken 3-1 in the first semi final while Kime and Wood defeated the other Western Australian combination of Trenton Phillips & Justin Miles 3-0 in the other semi final.
