Western Australian Boy’s Back on Target The Western Australian Junior Boy’s State Darts Team are going to take some beating in the Australian Junior Boy’s Teams Championship at the Altona Sports Club in Altona Victoria. Western Australia is the defending Champions having won this event last year in Brisbane. A few shock results though on day one in the Girls Teams competition at the 23rd Puma Australian Junior Darts Championships. Boys Their finishing has been a highlight of both of these Team’s, with consistent pegouts with one or two darts. With Queensland having a bye tomorrow, they have only two rounds to play, but the last round of the day could be a real ripper and the possible decider when Queensland and Western Australia will meet. Tasmania is still in with a chance with only one loss so far to Queensland, but have Western Australia to play first up on the second day of the Teams Event. Boy’s Day 1 Results: (Round by Round) New South Wales: (WA 1-6) (NT 3-4)
(SA 2-5) (TAS 3-4) |
| Girls As mentioned earlier, some shock results in the Girls Teams Event. Every team has lost at least one match. After day one, four teams are in with a chance at the title. They are New South Wales, Northern Territory (only played three rounds) Queensland and South Australia. What I would consider a surprise result was Queensland’s lose to Northern Territory 4-3 in the first round. Queensland Girl’s are the defending Champions and are still looking very strong at this stage but this early lose could fire the team up for the remainder of the event. Disappointing for Northern Territory though after such a big win to lose their next round to New South Wales. They are still right in contention though and have matches against South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria to play tomorrow. Win all three and they could win the title. The Queensland Girl’s continued their great Championship form in winning all of their remaining matches today against South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. Two matches tomorrow against New South Wales and Western Australia. New South Wales also won all but one of the matches (against South Australia) with victories over Western Australia, Northern Territory, and Tasmania. They have Queensland and Victoria to play tomorrow. Win these two matches and the title could be theirs. South Australia lost to Queensland 6-1; there only lose so far. They had good wins over Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. They have Northern Territory and Tasmania tomorrow. Win those two rounds and they could be Champions. Four teams all with a chance at winning the title. Should be a great day of competition tomorrow. Western Australia has won this title many times in the past and
is out of the hunt after three loses as have Victoria. Tasmania has
had just one win but could pick up placings with three matches to
play tomorrow. New South Wales: (WA 4-3) (NT 6-1) (SA 3-4) (TAS 6-1) Competition continues tomorrow at the Altona Sports Club in Melbourne starting at 11.00am with the final three rounds of the team’s event. |
