Western Australian Boy’s
right on target
The Western Australian Junior Boy’s State Darts Team
are going to take some beating in the Australian Junior Boy’s
Teams Championship at the Latrobe Youth Centre in Latrobe Tasmania.
Western Australia is the defending Champions having won this
event in the two previous years in Brisbane and Altona last year.
A few shock results though on day one in the Girls Teams competition
at the 24 th Puma Australian Junior Darts Championships. The
defending Champions are in trouble.
Boys
Four
rounds of competition were completed today with Western Australia
and New South Wales remain the only undefeated team at this stage.
Western Australia has played four rounds and has victories over
Northern Territory, Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland. New South
Wales only played three rounds today. They had a bye in round
one but had victories over Victoria, Northern Territory and Queensland.
No one really troubled the strong Western Australia team today
Tasmania getting the closest to them winning two legs. New South
Wales closest match was with Queensland losing just three legs.

The finishing has been a highlight of both of these Team’s,
with consistent pegouts with one or two darts. With Western Australia
having a bye tomorrow, they have only two rounds to play, but
the last round of the day could be a real ripper and the possible
decider when New South Wales and Western Australia will meet.
South Australia is still in with a chance with only one loss
so far to Queensland, but have Western Australia to play first
up on the second day followed by New South Wales. They would
need to win both of these matches if they are going to challenge
for the Teams title.

Girls As
mentioned earlier, some shock results in the Girls Teams Event.
New South Wales and Western Australia remain the only undefeated
team in the Girls Teams but New South Wales have only played
three matches after having a bye in the first round. Every other
team has lost at least one match. After day one, three teams
are in with a chance at the title. They are New South Wales,
Victoria and Western Australia. (right - Rookie Hannah Williams
of NSW)
What I would consider a surprise result was Queensland’s
two loses, as they are the defending Champions. They have lost
to both Western Australia and New South Wales and are now hoping
for more upsets to get back into contention.
Victoria has lost just the one match and that was to New South
Wales 5 - 4. They have two rounds to play tomorrow against Queensland
and Tasmania and if they win both they will be right in the battle
for the title.
Western Australia plays South Australia first
up tomorrow morning before they have a bye in round six. Then
it could possibly be the Championship match when New South Wales
and Western Australia clash in the last round. If Western Australia
wins against SA and then NSW in the last match these three Teams
could be equal on wins, and then the winning legs will separate
the three Teams.
Girl’s Day 1 Results: (Round by Round)
New South Wales: (Bye) (NT 7 - 2) (VIC 5 - 4) (QLD 6 - 3)
Northern Territory: (WA 1 - 8) (NSW 2 - 7) (Bye) (VIC 4 - 5)
Queensland: (TAS 8 - 1) (SA 5 - 4) (WA 3 - 6) (NSW 3 - 6)
South Australia: (VIC 4 - 5) (QLD 4 - 5) (TAS 8 - 1) (BYE)
Tasmania: (QLD 1 - 8) (Bye) (SA 1 - 8) (WA 0 - 9)
Victoria: (SA 5 - 4) (WA 4 – 5) (NSW
4 - 5) (NT 5 - 4)
Western Australia: (NT 8 - 1) (VIC 5 - 4) (QLD
3 - 6) (TAS 9 - 0)
Competition continues tomorrow at the Latrobe
Youth Centre in Latrobe starting at 10.00am with the final three
rounds of the team’s
event.
