Western Australian Boy's Aiming to Defend Their Title

The Western Australian Junior Boy's State Darts Team is going to take some beating in the Australian Junior Boy's Teams Championship at the Living Waters Primary School in Alice Springs. Western Australia is the defending Champions having won this event in the three previous years in Brisbane (QLD), Altona (VIC) and Latrobe (TAS) last year. They along with Tasmania remain the only Teams not to have lost a round so far and these two teams play each other in the final round. The Queensland Girls Teams are the competition leaders in the Girls Teams Event at the 25th Puma Australian Junior Darts Championships.

Boys
Four rounds of competition were completed today with Western Australia and Tasmania remaining the only undefeated teams at this stage. Western Australia has played four rounds and has victories over Northern Territory, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. Tasmania only played three rounds today. They had a bye in round one but had victories over South Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland. No one really troubled the strong Western Australia and Tasmanian Team's today with strong wins in all rounds.

The finishing has been a highlight of both of these Team's, with consistent pegouts with one or two darts. With Western Australia having a bye tomorrow, they have only two rounds to play, but the last round of the day could be a real ripper and the possible decider when Tasmania and Western Australia will meet. New South Wales is still in with a chance with only one loss so far to Western Australia, but have Tasmania to play first up on the second day followed by South Australia. They would need to win both of these matches if they were going to challenge for the Teams title.

Victoria is still in with a chance having played three rounds today. They lost to New South Wales today and if they can produce great darts and win against Western Australia and Tasmania tomorrow they will be in contention at the end of the day.

Queensland and Northern Territory have yet to register a win at this stage, and both of these Teams are now out of the running for the title. Girls
Some shock results in the Girls Teams Event sees six of the seven states and territories competing still in with a chance although slim for some of them. Queensland remain the only undefeated team. Every other team has lost at least one match. Queensland had victories over New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania today leaving them games against South Australia and Northern Territory tomorrow. Queensland has played very solid darts winning comfortably in all of their rounds today. New South Wales are the defending Champions and the first round lose to Queensland and to Western Australia in the last round today has set them back a little, but they are still in this event fighting hard.

After day one, two other teams are in with a strong chance at the title. They are Tasmania and South Australia. South Australia will need to defeat Queensland in the first round tomorrow. If they do that they then have another tough game against New South Wales. If they win that round as well they will remain in the hunt for the title. However Tasmania remains in a strong position also. If they win against New South Wales first up tomorrow they will remain in a powerful position to figure strongly at the end of the event. This highlights how close the Girls competition is, but either South Australia or the Northern Territory has to defeat Queensland tomorrow to give any of these teams a crack at the title.

Tarmeka NestorVictoria has lost just the two matches and that was to New South Wales and Queensland. They have three rounds to play tomorrow against Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania and if they can win all three rounds tomorrow, they will have a big influence on the outcome of this event. Western Australia have lost two rounds but finished off strongly with a win over New South Wales. They will have a say in who will win the title. These three teams have a remote chance at the title and will need Queensland to miss a few vital doubles tomorrow. (pictured left - WA's Tarmeka Nestor)

Unfortunately the hosts Northern Territory they are out of contention. The NT Girls are trying hard and all are Rookies this year; they are all young and the experience they gain this year will benefit them in future years.
