Introduced next was Betty Hislop, Darts Federation of Australia Vice President. She also welcomed everyone to the 27th Australian Junior Darts Championships and wished them all the very best of luck. She stressed the importance of fair play and sportsmanship, playing with the right spirit and in particular to enjoy themselves, make some new friends and have fun.

The Mayor of Perth Council was unable to attend but Councillor Janet Davidson attended in her place. She welcomed everyone to Perth and told us that there was some great shopping to be had and places to visit here in Perth. She commented on the return to the Championships of the 2007 singles champions Emily Austin from Juniors 2008NSW and WA's Gavin Dann who will be out to defend their titles. She congratulated and commented on the great performances by Brie Peters And Mitchell Clegg at the World Cup in the Netherlands several months ago. She thanked the Western Australian Darts Council for all of their hard work at making these a great Championship.

As with the tradition of all Australian Darts Championships Councillor Janet Davidson was asked to officially open the Championships by throwing the first three darts. She was handed the darts owned by Brie Peters and aimed up at the dartboard on the main stage. She officially opened the games and the three darts she threw, well the result is pictured left.
