WEST TAMWORTH LEAGUE CLUB

TAMWORTH GAMES 2010

An excellent roll-up of dart players participated in the West League sponsored Tamworth Games $5,000 Tournament this year held at the West Tamworth League Club with some coming from as far away as Gold Coast and Lismore in the north to Mittagong, Sydney and Newcastle to the south, players also attended from Moree, Inverell, Armidale and Orange areas.

Some very tight and hard games witnessed over the five Events over the weekend. Taking part this year were the State Junior Squad which numbering thirty young players, making the game of darts very promising in the future.

The first day started with Men's and Ladies' Singles, all games played on the board system, with the first and second on the board going through to knock-out rounds to the finals. Men's and Ladies Doubles as well as the Mixed Doubles were played on the same format.

The most successful player on the day was David Herring from Woodburn with first in the Singles, third in the Doubles and winner in the Mixed Doubles, followed by Mitchell Clegg and Lavina Hogg both from Newcastle. Local Tamworth players Mick Parker and Darren Oliver had medium success with Mick third in the Singles and Darren second in the Doubles and fourth in the Mixed Doubles, Leon Lovett and Andrew Bowden were successful in coming fourth in the Men's Doubles.

Overall a total of thirty-six 180s were hit over the week-end, but Mitchell Clegg top scored with four, followed by fellow Novacastrian Guy Holland with three.
