
Race to the Winmau World Masters still wide open
The Australian Grand Prix is wide open with a number of players in the running for the elusive chance of winning the ticket to the Winmau World Masters and Lakeside World Professional Championships play-offs.
The Grand Prix circuit concludes this year at the Pacific Masters which is without doubt the toughest darts event in Australia to win. The top 64 male and female players from all around the country will converge on the Gosford Leagues Club as well as a large number of talented players from all around the country in one final effort to secure the top spot and the trip to the U.K.
Leading the Ladies is Carol Forwood from Victoria, following wins at the Central Coast Classic, the Australian Grand Masters and a runner-up at the Sunshine Coast Carol is well placed on 71 points.
In second place is Louise Ball from Western Australia on 57 points, Louise has been the finalist at the Australian Grand Masters and the Sunshine State Classic and a semi-finalist on two other occasions and as amassed 57 points.
In third position is Corrine Hammond from New South Wales on 55 points, with wins at the Victorian Easter Tournament and the Australian Masters and three last eight finishes Corrine has 55 points.
With 20 points up for grabs in the Pacific Masters the final Ladies event will be a tough exciting tournament with the points and winners berth well-deserved.
Leading the Men's Grand Prix is South Australian Rob Modra on 52 points, Rob had wins at the Victorian Easter Tournament and the Central Coast Classic and is in fine form going into the last event.
In second place is Western Australian 2009 Australian Rep Kyle Anderson who has two runners-up and two last 8 placings and is close behind on 50 points.
In Third place is another Western Australian Neil Hembrow on 37 points with a win at the West Coast Classic and runner-up at the Grand Masters.
In fourth place is Victorian Andy Robertson with a win at the Australian Masters and a runner-up at the Victorian Easter Tournament.
With just the one tournament to go to decide who is this years Men's and Ladies Australian Grand Prix winner and the airfare to compete in the Winmau World Masters and Lakeside World Professional Championship play off's the 2010 Pacific Masters at the Central Leagues Club in Gosford is going to be hotter than ever. |
